Been really busy - no time to post

September 15th 2009 03:13
I barely have time to cook these days, much less post about it. I just went back to work.

After three years just doing my thing - being a housewife, mom, carpool driver, etc. I'm back in the work place. No time to experiment with new recipes, or write about the old ones I'm cooking from memory. Actually, the kids and hubby are doing most of the cooking, because I'm working odd hours.

As soon as I get a day off from work (that doesn't involve all the carpool, cheer-mom, etc. stuff) I'll write about all the new recipes I'd like to try when I get the time!

In the meantime....

Happy Cooking!

Recipe Maintenance Made Easy!

This blog is about Home Cooking - but part of that is storing and organizing all those awesome recipes. If you're like me, you have tons of recipe files, cards, books, magazines, etc. Recipe Builder software is the way to keep it all organized in one handy place - on your computer!

The software comes with 12,000 recipes built in! Of course, you don't have to keep or use those recipes, there's plenty of room to add your own. How much easier could it be to add all the recipes you find while online, than to store them in one convenient program right on your computer.

Five categories are already included: crock pot, diabetic, ground beef, poultry, and side dishes - a total of 12,000 recipes. A lifetime membership to their category downloads is also included. Tuna Salad Sandwiches

July 18th 2009 20:32
I know - not much cooking involved in tuna sandwiches, but home preparation counts as home cooking!

I like my tuna with just pickles and mayo (NOT Miracle Whip or other salad dressing - but REAL MAYO) - and I can do without the pickles just fine. My husband, on the other hand, likes a lot more "salad" in his tuna salad. Here's my recipe for his favorite:

1 can tuna
1 hard-boiled egg - chopped
1 tablespoon diced onion
1 tablespoon diced dill pickles (I sometimes substitute sweet pickle relish)
1 stalk celery - diced
1 jalepeno pepper - seeded and diced
1/4 apple (any variety) - peeled, seeded, diced (optional)
3 tablespoons Miracle Whip (you may substitute real mayo, but my hubby prefers the Miracle Whip)
Salt and Pepper to taste

tuna salad sandwich
Tuna with egg, pickle, jalepeno, celery, apple, and Miracle Whip

Mix it all up, and put it between bread slices for an awesome sandwich. (I still prefer just mayo and pickles, but my husband LOVES this!)
