Tuna Salad Sandwiches
July 18th 2009 20:32
I know - not much cooking involved in tuna sandwiches, but home preparation counts as home cooking!
I like my tuna with just pickles and mayo (NOT Miracle Whip or other salad dressing - but REAL MAYO) - and I can do without the pickles just fine. My husband, on the other hand, likes a lot more "salad" in his tuna salad. Here's my recipe for his favorite:
1 can tuna
1 hard-boiled egg - chopped
1 tablespoon diced onion
1 tablespoon diced dill pickles (I sometimes substitute sweet pickle relish)
1 stalk celery - diced
1 jalepeno pepper - seeded and diced
1/4 apple (any variety) - peeled, seeded, diced (optional)
3 tablespoons Miracle Whip (you may substitute real mayo, but my hubby prefers the Miracle Whip)
Salt and Pepper to taste
Mix it all up, and put it between bread slices for an awesome sandwich. (I still prefer just mayo and pickles, but my husband LOVES this!)
